Integrative Therapy

I'm an integrative psychotherapist. This means that I draw from multiple theoretical models to inform my work, namely the Psychodynamic, Person-Centred approaches, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and NLP techniques, as appropriate to deal with the needs of my clients.

 

Psychodynamic approach, in very basic terms, the psychodynamic approach includes the theories in psychology that perceive human behaviour in terms of conscious or unconscious inner drives and between the different structures of our personality. It also means that am interested in knowing about your early life experiences and how these may affect present behaviours and emotions.​

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This approach focuses on how you think, how your thoughts affect your feelings and behaviours  and how your responses may contribute to the maintenance of some of the problems you are having. In short, CBT therapy focuses on addressing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. 

Person-Centred Approach This approach takes a humanistic stance and focuses on the Self and on perceptions of self-worth. This approach suggests that we know what is best for ourselves, but often our true needs conflict with environmental demands (e.g. social and parental expectations). Person-Centred therapy helps the client work out these internal conflicts aiming to achieve a greater sense of self and self-worth.
